Darien Nuñez Gets Called Up To The Dodgers

It’s been a long road to Los Angeles

Darien Nuñez has received the call he has been waiting for. He left Cuba in 2015 as he escaped in Guyana, went to Haiti, then crossed over to the Dominican Republic. It took him three years before he was able to sign a contract with the Dodgers, which occurred in 2018. Now that long journey has taken him to the Dodgers. We saw the notification from Twitter last night.

Nuñez earned the call up with some excellent statistics in 2021. In 30 innings he has struck out 42 batters, walked 15, only allowed 16 hits and the opponents have slashed only .193/.271/.314 (AVG/OBP/SLG). He is ready.

Now, it is official! I spoke briefly to Darien and he is very thankful. We at Dodgers 2080 are very excited to watch Nuñez continue to thrive in his career.

To read more about Darien, please check an interview I did with him in 2020.
