Dodgers Prospects: All Draft Picks Are Now Signed

A New Clayton Has Joined The Dodgers

The Dodgers have finally signed all of their draft picks as Clayton Beeter announced his signing on Twitter. Beeter was the 66th overall draft pick and was taken with the pick acquired by the Dodgers in the Kenta Maeda trade.

On the 20-80 scale, MLB Pipeline gave Beeter the following grades:

  • Fastball: 60
  • Slider: 60
  • Curveball: 60
  • Changeup: 50
  • Control: 50
  • Overall: 50

Clayton Beeter had Tommy John surgery in 2017 and pitched out of the bullpen in 2019. He had a lot of strikeouts but walks were an issue. In the abbreviated 2020 season he had 4 starts and dominated. In 21 innings he only gave up 13 hits, walked only 4 and struck out 33.

Beeter added rather than lost velocity as he worked longer stints this year, sitting at 93-96 mph and peaking at 98 with his fastball. He has a pair of power breaking balls, a wipeout curveball in the low 80s and a slider in the mid-80s that some evaluators believe is even better. He even flashes at least a solid changeup – MLB Pipeline

You can follow Clayton’s social media accounts on Twitter (@C_Beeter) and Instagram (@cbeet15). This wraps up our 2020 draft series but you can look at the history on our 2020 Draft Page. Welcome to the Dodgers, Clayton Beeter!
